1. Opening
Have you ever seen someone struck by an extremely tragic calamity, and in your heart you whispered, “O Allah, how pitiful he is, why is his fate so unfortunate?”Be careful. Do not rush to judge. What we see today is often only the “Last Chapter” of a long book of life. We never know what hidden sin he wrote in the “First Chapter.” In this world, Allah’s justice moves in silence—extremely precise, and it never delivers to the wrong address.Scientifically, in the law of cause and effect (causality), every action in this universe must produce an equivalent reaction. In Islamic Sharia, this scientific concept is called _Al-Jazā’ min Jinsil ‘Amal_—the recompense matches the type of deed. Allah never sleeps, and for every oppression a human commits, the receipt for payment will surely be collected—sooner or later.
Let us calm our souls and reflect on the following words of Allah SWT:
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ الظَّالِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ
“And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.”[QS. Ibrāhīm: 42]
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also gave a very stern reminder about how Allah hastens punishment for those who oppress and sever family ties:
مَا مِنْ ذَنْبٍ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ يُعَجِّلَ اللَّهُ لِصَاحِبِهِ الْعُقُوبَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعَ مَا يَدَّخِرُ لَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْبَغْيِ وَقَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِمِ
“There is no sin more deserving of having its punishment hastened for the perpetrator in this world—along with what is stored for him in the Hereafter—than oppression and severing family ties.”[HR. At-Tirmidhī]
2. Lessons and Message
Friends, let us unveil the “First Chapter” of three real incidents that once left people bewildered, yet in the end left tears of regret that are both heart-rending and full of profound lessons. A. The Story of the Shop Owner in Midhat Pasha Last Chapter (Tragedy): A fabric shop owner in the market suddenly became totally paralyzed after being hit by a stray bullet while sitting and working in his shop. People pitied him and considered it bad luck. First Chapter (Past Sin): Who would have thought, years earlier, this man had cruelly seized all the wealth of his own sibling’s orphaned children. The amount seized was huge, equivalent to the price of a luxury house. That stray bullet was not a coincidence, but a “messenger” of Allah’s justice coming to collect the rights of the orphans he had devoured.
B. The Story of the Ruthless Mother Who Was a Lawyer Last Chapter (Tragedy): A mother who worked as a successful lawyer died a horrific death from colon cancer that ate away at her body, after a life of suffering. First Chapter (Past Sin): The world saw her as a great career woman, but Allah saw her as a criminal. In the past, she used legal trickery to seize her own sibling’s house simply because of the name on the deed, even though her sibling had already paid half the price of the house. Tragically, after taking over the house, she evicted her sibling who had 14 destitute children onto the streets. The pain of colon cancer at the end of her life was a living parable of the rotten heart that would dare to consume her own sibling’s rights.
C. The Story of the Man Evicted by His Second Wife Last Chapter . There was an old man crying on the streets. His factory and lavish house had been completely taken over by his young second wife. To make matters worse, after becoming poor, he was evicted from his own house because it turned out his second wife was having an affair and loved another man. Netizens might curse the second wife. But wait! First Chapter (Past Sin): This old man was the eldest child in his family. Long ago, when his father died, he greedily monopolized and seized the entire inheritance for himself, leaving his own siblings to live in poverty.
This case is like someone proudly stealing a luxury car, then parking it on the side of the road with the keys still dangling. Suddenly, another thief—more skilled—drives it away right before his eyes! He wants to report it to the police, but he himself is a fugitive. This man was evicted by his second wife in the exact same way he evicted his siblings from their father’s inherited house. His way of seizing was classy, but the way Allah paid him back was far classier—and leaves you shaking your head!
3. Conclusion and Closing
Blessed brothers and sisters, the three stories above are real proof that the law of sowing and reaping is absolute. Allah’s justice is incredibly precise. If today we plant tears for others, then tomorrow or the day after, we will harvest a storm of tears for ourselves. Especially, beware regarding inheritance, the wealth of orphans, and the rights of siblings.Never be dazzled by a “First Chapter” that looks victorious and happy atop the suffering of others, because the “Last Chapter” Allah has prepared may be very painful. Let us cleanse our hearts, return the rights of others if we ever took them, and repent before Allah’s scenario of recompense visits us unexpectedly
