1. Preface

Existentially, humans are creatures full of limitations. We often feel proud of our achievements, yet biologically, we don’t even have full control over our own heartbeat or the flow of oxygen in our lungs. Psychologically, humans are always searching for something to hold onto because the soul thirsts for security. The most fundamental scientific truth is: Your strength lies precisely in admitting your weakness. When someone realizes he is limited, he stops relying on his fragile ego and starts leaning on Infinite Power. In spiritual science, this is called Fana’ al-Ananiyah, or the dissolution of the ego. The moment you say, “I am weak, O Allah,” the strength of the universe supports you. But the moment you feel, “I can do it myself,” you are disconnecting the power cable from the eternal source of energy. This is what Allah SWT reminded us about the Battle of Badr:

وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَّاَنْتُمْ اَذِلَّةٌ ۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ

“And Allah had already given you victory at Badr when you were few and weak. So fear Allah that you may be grateful.” (QS. Ali 'Imran: 123

)Likewise, in a hadith, the Messenger ﷺ gave the true key to strength:

مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَقْوَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللهِ

“Whoever wishes to be the strongest of people, let him put his trust in Allah.” (HR. Al-Hakim)

2. Explanation

Life, in essence, is a swing between two words: “Allah” or “I.” If we step forward with the word “Allah,” then He will take over our affairs, protect us, and grant us victory. But if we step forward with the ego of “I”—because we feel great due to position, wealth, or number of followers—then Allah will let go of us and leave us to fall under the weight of our own arrogance. Therefore, be “poor” before Allah so that you may be “rich” before creation. The analogy is simple: imagine a small child learning to walk. As long as he holds tightly to his strong father’s hand, he feels safe even though his legs tremble. But the moment he grows arrogant and lets go of his father’s hand, saying, “I can do it myself!”, that’s when he’s only waiting to fall face-first onto the ground. We are that small child, and that “father’s hand” is Allah’s protection. Never let go of that grip just because you think you now have “expensive shoes” or a “smooth road.”This awareness of dependence is often missed because human nature can be funny and ironic. Some people, with ten thousand in their pocket, walk normally. But once their bank balance gains three more zeros, suddenly their chin lifts ten degrees, and they walk like a hero who just won a war single-handedly. We often forget that a tiny mosquito can keep this “brave one” from sleeping all night. We feel big because of numbers or possessions, then get shocked when a small problem makes the world feel narrow. Remember, don’t become an “athlete of arrogance” who is strong enough to lift the burden of sin but forgets to lift his hands in prayer. Our strength is only a loan, and the Owner can take it back at any time—even through just one sneeze or an unbearable toothache.

3. Lessons and Message

The great lesson we can take is the importance of tearing down the wall of “ego” within us. The moral message is clear: true strength is not born from muscle or wealth, but from closeness to the Almighty. The more we feel we have nothing before Allah, the more Allah will suffice all our needs. Don’t let success make us feel independent of God, because without His permission, not even a single strand of hair will fall to the earth

.4. Conclusion

My brothers and sisters, study the history of Badr and Hunayn in your own life. At Badr, the companions felt weak and said “Allah,” so victory came. At Hunayn, they felt numerous and said “We,” so the earth felt constricted. The choice is in your hands: Do you want to be guarded by Allah or left alone? If you want to be guarded, throw away the feeling of “I” and fill your heart with the feeling of “Allah.” For only by leaning on Him does the weak become strong, the disgraced become noble, and the poor become sufficient
