1. Opening
In evolutionary psychology and neuroscience, there is a concept called The Giver’s Glow. Scientifically, when a person focuses on benefiting others, the brain releases a combination of oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine. This process suppresses activity in the amygdala [the center of fear and anxiety] and strengthens the immune system. Being beneficial isn’t just about helping others—it is a biological mechanism for achieving complete mental health. A beneficial soul is the most stable soul because it has a clear life purpose that transcends its own ego.Allah SWT says:
اِنْ اَحْسَنْتُمْ اَحْسَنْتُمْ لِاَنْفُسِكُمْ ۗوَاِنْ اَسَاْتُمْ فَلَهَا
“If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves…” (QS. Al-Isrā’: 7)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
خَيْرُ النَّاسِ أَنْفَعُهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ
“The best of people are those most beneficial to others.” (HR. Aḥmad & Aṭ-Ṭabarānī)
2. Lessons and Message
The standard of nobility in Allah’s view does not lie in how many titles we bear, how high our position is, or how thick our bank balance is. Nobility is measured by how wide the “trail of benefit” we leave in people’s hearts. The best humans are those whose presence becomes a solution, whose words bring comfort, and whose hands extend hope to others. Don’t ask what the world has given you—ask what benefit you have given the world today.
There is a story of an elderly scavenger who, every day, set aside a little money from his scrap earnings just to buy bottled water and place it on a barren roadside for thirsty people. When he passed away, thousands who had once drunk his water came to mourn, even though they didn’t know his name. That grandfather proved that to become the “Best Human,” you don’t need to be wealthy; you only need a heart willing to share. A small benefit done consistently had elevated his rank before the inhabitants of earth and heaven.
Imagine a human as A Tree. The best tree isn’t the tallest or the one with the strongest trunk, but the one with the shadiest canopy so people can shelter beneath it, and the sweetest fruit so anyone can enjoy it. A beautiful but poisonous tree will be avoided, but a beneficial tree will be protected and loved. Be a tree that, even when pelted with stones, responds by dropping sweet fruit. We can be quite unique. We want to be considered the “Best Human,” but when there’s community service in the alley, we suddenly have “back pain.” We want to benefit the ummah, but when a neighbor asks to borrow a screwdriver, we pretend we forgot where we put it.
We’re eloquent about humanity on social media, yet we’re stingy with smiles to our own family at home. Remember, the title “Best” doesn’t come from Instagram followers, but from the people closest to us who feel the real benefit of our presence. Don’t let us become “heroes” online but “burdens” in real life!
3. Conclusion and Closing
My blessed brothers and sisters, in conclusion, the formula is clear: Nobility = Benefit. Let’s audit ourselves—have we been a solution for others today? Make the rest of our lives a field of devotion. Use our knowledge, time, wealth, and energy to help others, for that is where true happiness and eternal salvation lie.
