Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim

1. Opening

Friends whose hearts always long for truth.

Have you ever heard of a magical number in mathematics called 1.618? This number is known as the Golden Ratio— a geometric constant that produces the perfect spiral of beauty. Modern science was astonished to discover that this number is the Blueprint for everything in the universe. When astronomers photograph the majesty of our Milky Way Galaxy, its spiral shape follows the Golden Ratio. When marine biologists measure the curvature of a nautilus shell on the ocean floor, the ratio is precisely 1.618. Even when botanists observe the arrangement of sunflower petals, the same mathematical pattern is found. So, where is the peak of this order? The peak is in you. The structure of the human ear, the curve of the heart as it pumps, even the proportions of the bones in our fingers—all are designed exactly according to the Golden Ratio. This is precisely what Amīrul Mu’minīn ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib, karramallāhu wajhah, expressed:

"You think you are merely a small body, yet within you lies a universe far greater." The legendary Muslim philosopher and physician Ibn Sīnā explained long ago in his cosmology that the entire universe moves in one harmonious inner harmony, because it emanates from the One, Absolute Source. This singularity of design is absolute proof that the Creator of this cosmos is not coincidence, but the One, All-Powerful, All-Regulating Being.

Allah Subḥānahu wa Ta‘ālā says so beautifully in the Qur’an:

سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ

“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.” (QS. Fuṣṣilat: 53)

This flawless order of creation is also affirmed by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a hadith:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالُ

“Indeed, Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty.” (HR. Muslim)

2. Lessons and Message

My friend, the highest moral lesson from this mathematical verse is about the preciousness of our existence. There is a true, moving story of a young man who felt like a failure in life. He felt his face was unattractive, his body imperfect, and his life poor, so he intended to end his life on the beach. As he sat weeping on the sand, his hand accidentally touched an empty seashell that had washed ashore. He stared at the spiral curve of the shell, then remembered a science lesson about the Golden Ratio. He touched his own ear and realized that the spiral pattern in his ear was exactly the same as the shell in his hand, and the same as the galaxy above his head. He sobbed and said, “O Allah, if You wove my body with the same mathematical formula as Your galaxy, then I was not created as a failed product. I am valuable in Your eyes.” The heartbreaking part is: how many of us today have bodies that are whole, yet souls that are shattered because we always feel lacking? We ruin the beautiful proportions Allah has given us with ingratitude, excessive inferiority, and discontent with destiny.

Imagine you are holding a masterpiece painting by a world-renowned maestro. In the corner of the painting is a distinctive brushstroke that serves as the painter’s signature. Anyone who sees that stroke will know, “Ah, this must be the Maestro’s work.” The Golden Ratio is Allah Subḥānahu wa Ta‘ālā’s digital signature on the canvas of the universe. Our ears, seashells, and galaxies are His paintings. When the structure of our bodies bears the same signature as the cosmos, it is a constructive message that our soul and body are designed to be in harmony with nature, not to destroy it. If we live against His rules [by sinning], we are disrupting the harmony of the universe’s symphony. It’s funny how humans often busy themselves looking for “compatibility” and “resemblance” in trivial things. Young people today looking for a spouse are busy matching zodiac signs: “Hey, I’m a Scorpio, you’re a Pisces—are we compatible?” Or they’re busy reading palm lines. Yet scientifically and spiritually, our bodies are already a high-level match with the entire universe! Galaxies glorify Him with their pattern, shells glorify Him with their ratio, and our ears are designed to hear that glorification. So, instead of busying ourselves with zodiac compatibility that’s uncertain at best, it’s better to match our prayer times with the call to adhān. Because when we prostrate, the “universe” within us spins in alignment with the vast universe in the heavens!

3. Conclusion and Closing

My blessed brothers and sisters, the conclusion of our reflection today is: We are never alone, and we were not created at random. The existence of one mathematical blueprint [the Golden Ratio] in human anatomy and the macrocosm is proof that our Creator is the One, Absolute Being. You are a masterpiece, designed with love and order. So honor yourself with obedience. Do not let the majestic universe within you be tainted by bad thoughts about Allah. If the galaxy in the sky obeys its orbit, then make sure our footsteps also obey His Sharia. Let us ask Allah to always calm our hearts with the signs of His greatness.
