1. Opening
Friends for the sake of Allah [Fillah], have we ever realized that we are not just numbers in world population statistics? We are Allah’s most magnificent work of art.Human beings are a harmony of three intertwined dimensions. Biologically, our bodies need Halālan Ṭayyiban nutrition so that our cells radiate positive energy.[lawful and wholesome] Cognitively, our Intellect is a super-sophisticated “computer” that only finds tranquility when guided by the installation of Revelation. Yet the core of everything is the Heart. The human heart has an emptiness that cannot be filled by wealth or thrones; it can only be satisfied with Dhikr and love for the Creator.[remembrance of Allah] When these three are balanced, humans become beings who surpass the rank of angels.
Allah SWT has established our position at the peak of the pyramid of creation:
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِيْٓ اٰدَمَ
“And We have certainly honored the children of Adam.” (QS. Al-Isrā’: 70)This nobility is because there is a “breath” of sacred spirit within us:
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَٰجِدِينَ
“So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down to him in prostration.” (QS. Ṣād: 72)
Yet this greatness comes with a heavy burden of responsibility:
اِنَّا عَرَضْنَا الْاَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَاَبَيْنَ اَنْ يَّحْمِلْنَهَا وَاَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا الْاِنْسَانُۗ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ ظَلُوْمًا جَهُوْلًا
“Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and feared it; but man undertook to bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant.” (QS. Al-Aḥzāb: 72)
2. Lessons and Message
Be a person who focuses on improving inner quality. The world often deceives us into polishing the “casing” [body and appearance], even though Allah only “logs in” to our hearts. Focus on being a beneficial human, because bearing the Trust as a Khalīfah means safeguarding the earth and one another.
Imagine an old grandfather on the outskirts of the city living in limitation, yet his face always beams. When asked his secret, he answers with a trembling voice, “Every morning I’m grateful because Allah still lends me a soul so I can prostrate. I have nothing to boast before Him except my love for Him.” This is an example of a human who understands _Hubbul Wujūd_—he loves his existence only because he feels owned by the Supreme Creator.
A human without revelation is like the seed of a giant tree that has the genetic code to grow as high as the sky and shelter thousands of creatures, yet it is deliberately dwarfed in a tiny plastic pot sealed tight from sunlight.
That seed has extraordinary vitality, but because it doesn’t get the “watering” of revelation and the “light” of guidance, its roots instead coil and strangle itself until it dies and rots in a narrow space. Its potential to become a protector of nature vanishes, turning into meaningless organic waste. So it is with humans; if the soul is not allowed to grow in the vastness of Allah’s guidance, it will die of thirst in the narrowness of ego and desire.
Some people are so worried about the “continuity of their existence” that they buy the most expensive anti-aging products, supplements from outer space, and exercise until they faint—just to stay young. Yet the only way to be eternal is to “move” to Paradise. Ironically, we often fear death but want to live forever. That’s like someone who wants to enter a lavish party hall but refuses to step through the door because he’s afraid his clothes will get wrinkled!
3. Conclusion and Closing
My blessed brothers and sisters, our ultimate purpose is not merely to live to eat or to seek human applause. We were created as the crown of creation for one noble purpose:
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْاِنْسَ اِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوْنِ
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” (QS. Adh-Dhāriyāt: 56)
Let us run back to Allah [Fafirru ilallāh] before our time runs out
